This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 1st grade class is comprised of 25 students. They are a diverse group of students with various academic and social needs. For example, I have a few students who receive speech, academic intervention services, live in shelters or go to after school programs because their parents can't help them with homework.

As their teacher, I want my students to enjoy learning and strive to be anything they want to be.

These 5-6 year olds are eager to soak up learning. They have the "I think I can attitude". Do you remember the book, The Little Engine that Could? I'd love for my class to say "I knew I could" at the end of the year.

My Project

My students are Word Detectives looking for some good books to read. Believe it or not, but my class has read almost every book in our library. They are eager to read and they want to practice their reading strategies to make them even better readers.

My Word Detectives are searching for exciting books to read.

This leveled library will provide books for my struggling readers to my advance readers to enjoy. The students will find new words to enhance their vocabulary. They will meet new characters and discover new places to visit.

This project will add books to our library so that all my students can engage in good literature.
