Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school I work in is a Title I school highly impacted by poverty and very low academics. The students in my class are all very excited to learn and discover new things. There is also a high diversity of students consisting of mostly English Language Learners and a few homeless students.

The resources I hope to bring into my class will not only help my ELL and homeless students, but all my students grow in becoming proficient in phonemic awareness and in mathematics.

Due to their low socioeconomic status most of my students families do not have the resources to buy any form of technology to help in learning basic skills or 21st century technology. My student will really benefit from being able to have access to the material they will need to succeed in school.

My Project

I like to have my students learn using the most updated hands on materials to spark an interest in learning both math and language arts. Ways of teaching both these topics are changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students.

Students can learn more and gain knowledge by using the right tools that will keep the students engaged as well as make learning fun and exciting.

By using the the Osmo Genius Kits in centers it will help to re-enforce the concepts the students are being taught in both math and language arts.

Struggling students will be able to use the program in centers using hands on activities with technology, which is less intimidating than a typical book. Students who use this tool will find math and language arts to be fun and exciting giving them the desire to learn more.
