My Students
As a teacher in a Title I school, I know many of my students come from poverty stricken, low-income homes. Some also are learning English as a second language and others have special needs. All of my students receive free breakfasts and lunches at school. Some of my students live in shelters or motels. Others are living with other families.
Despite these difficult circumstances, my students come to school eager to learn and explore.
They are fascinated with the new activities, opportunities, and experiences that I can provide for them. They have so much love to share with me and with each other. I want to be able to give them every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
My Project
Writing is an essential part of first grade. We learn to write stories that go across several pages and we turn them into booklets. We learn about animals and places and write informational pieces to share all that we have learned with our classmates and with other classes. We even write papers to share our opinions and thoughts with others.
Different kinds of writing need different kinds of materials.
I am requesting ink for my classroom printer so I can make various forms of writing paper, including booklets, title pages, tables of contents, and how-to pages. I also print practice papers to help with my students' handwriting. We also need special chart paper with a picture place on the top. These will help me model to students what their writing should look like. I can also show them proper handwriting and realistic pictures.
Please help me share a love of writing with my students by helping to fund this project.
