This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom includes preschool students ages 3-5 who were born with a variety of disabilities. They learn best through hands on learning experiences that also fulfill their sensory needs. We are working on a lot of different skills where water play is beneficial to their learning.
I am asking for your generous donation to provide my classroom with water play materials that align with our curriculum and keeps them interested and engaged in the learning process.
With warm weather coming, I love to incorporate water play into the learning process inside and outside of the classroom. We use water play as a calming sensory strategy when a student needs a break. We also use it to increase their learning skills. We will use all of the water toys after our lessons (example: when learning about ocean animals, we will put the ocean animals in the water to give them that real life experience and knowledge of the animals that can swim). These tools will be used to increase their play skills, communication, fulfill their sensory needs, and expand their knowledge of the curriculum.
The felt board will be used during story time to keep them engaged and give them hands on experiences during the story. They will be asked to place the felt pieces on the board as the story is being read. This is an activity that is very motivating for them. These tools help them learn and understand concepts better. They will make progress on all of their goals in a fun way!
All of these materials will help me adapt the curriculum to meet their needs. We would appreciate any support you can give to their learning experience!
