This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hip hip hooray, for 100 days in school! The 100th day of school is a grand celebration for my students. We celebrate all that they have learned in Language Arts and Math. A great way to share this with their parents is to document their growth with technology.

"Teacher, I wish my mom could visit my classroom, but she has to work during the day.

I would like her to see that my reading and writing has improved." Many of my students come from homes where both parents work. They come from low socio-economic homes. Unfortunately, this means that parents have minimal time to volunteer or visit the classroom. It is difficult for them to see the learning their child has accomplished in the classroom. Yet, I must say that I have 100% participation in Parent Conferences. They make an effort to change their schedule or come in early to attend the conference. It is unfortunate that work limits them to do this a minimum amount of times. My students are eager to share their work and classroom experiences with their parents. Many of my students are English Language Learners. They are developing their language and academic skills with wonderful classroom experiences. A camera and camcorder would capture these moments.

My Project

A picture is priceless because it captures a moment in time that only may happen once. My students will be able to share their classroom experience with this technology. They will have the opportunity to document their classroom projects and learning growth. On the 100th day, we will create a DVD and photo collage that displays their learning. Parents will have the opportunity to view their projects at Open House and they will receive a copy to take home. The camcorder would also be used to record students during our English Language Development Theater. During this time, students practice their English skills by role-playing stories that we have read. The students would have the opportunity to show their creativity and build self confidence.

The students will be able to share their academic experience with their parents. My students will have a memorable year that they will have forever. The memories of learning will be recorded for them to look back at when they are adults. My goal of this project is that it motivates them to keep a positive attitude towards education. A memory that my students and their parents will have... forever!
