We have been able to create countless materials for our students that are bright and colorful and most importantly, durable, thanks to our laminating pages. When our district decided to migrate all the iPads to a new security system, some of our students were without their AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) devices for a long time and having a no tech backup was essential to them being able to communicate their wants and needs. We've also been able to print posters for the room so that the space is inviting and fun!\r\n\r\nThanks to the TPT giftcard we've been able to buy new materials to print and laminate. We've been able to buy some new articulation activities and themed materials for different holidays and activities. In addition, we've used the 'There was an old lady...' bookset almost every month so far along with companion materials we've downloaded! Therapy has been easier to plan and the students have enoyed working with a familiar book series and with tangible durable pictures.","fullyFundedDate":1755736627577,"projectUrl":"project/make-our-therapy-room-colorful/9578711/","projectTitle":"Make Our Therapy Room Colorful!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lauren","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10170790_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755628862115","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10170790"},{"teacherId":9279163,"projectId":9564256,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our TK students! Your kindness has brought so much excitement and joy to our classroom. Because of your contribution, our youngest learners now have new opportunities to practice essential social and physical skills through soccer play.\r\n\r\nWith your help, our students are learning how to wait patiently, take turns, and cheer one another on—all skills that build the foundation for strong friendships and positive classroom behavior. These moments on the field or playground become meaningful lessons in cooperation, self-control, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThey are also developing important gross motor skills, improving balance, coordination, and confidence each time they hit the t-ball, pass, or take a shot at the goal. For many of my students, this is the first time they've had access to age-appropriate sports equipment, and seeing their pride as they accomplish new physical milestones has been incredible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is making a real difference. During our reading sessions, students practice phonemic awareness by sounding out holiday-themed vocabulary like \"gratitude\" and \"celebration.\" They're developing comprehension strategies by making predictions about story endings and connecting holiday stories to their own family traditions. The diverse perspectives in these books have also sparked meaningful discussions about different ways people celebrate.\r\nOur reading time is dynamic and interactive. Students gather on our reading carpet for whole-group story time, where they eagerly participate in discussions and make predictions. During independent reading, they cozy up in our reading corner with these new additions to our library. We often use these books as springboards for writing activities – students have written their own gratitude lists inspired by Thanksgiving stories and created imaginative holiday tales.\r\nOne of my typically reserved students has especially connected with these books. He lights up during our reading circles and has started voluntarily sharing stories about his family's holiday traditions. Another student, who was struggling with reading confidence, found success with these accessible holiday narratives and now regularly asks to read aloud to the class. A third student has taken to \"teaching\" the holiday stories to her younger siblings at home, demonstrating both reading comprehension and leadership.\r\nThe books have become more than just reading materials – they're catalysts for building community, fostering empathy, and developing crucial literacy skills in ways that genuinely excite and engage our young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1726805809802,"projectUrl":"project/stories-that-warm-the-heart-and-nourish/8797176/","projectTitle":"Stories That Warm the Heart and Nourish the Soul.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Elyechyan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9755914"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98939","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":397,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.4,"schoolId":98939,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Andres & Maria Cardenas Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Andres & Maria Cardenas Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/valley-region-elementary-school-9/98939"}
