Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching in a high poverty area means that a majority of my students don't have access to everything they need to be successful. I am constantly amazed at how hard my students work in overcoming the many challenges they face.
Within my classroom, eighty percent of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch, twenty-five percent are English language learners, along with twenty percent qualifying for special education services.
Even with all of the difficulties they face, they come in and constantly meet and exceed my expectations.
My Project
The use of chairs is in integral part of any classroom, why not make those chairs a place where students can do their best learning. Every child that walks through my classroom door needs an outlet for their energy. Let's make their seats one of those outlets! By allowing students to use wobble stools and balance balls for their seats, they are able to get some of their energy out without it being distracting for others, while also allowing them to focus more on their learning.
By donating to this project, students will have access to wobble stools and balance balls that will help our classroom focus more on their learning by allowing students a great outlet for their extra energy.
The products that I have selected will allow students to choose the chair they work in. All students learn differently, and this is one way to honor their learning style.
