Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning new things every day. They are curious and ask lots of questions because they want to learn more. They see school as a fun place where they can be challenged. My students are intelligent and need engaging activities that will unlock their full potential.
Our neighborhood is under-served and infested with gangs and violence.
This does not hold students back from maximizing their full potential. Kids see our school as a safe haven.
My Project
My students love it when they come work at my small group table. They are energetic and always moving around in their chairs. I am happy they are engaged, but I would like for them to be able to sit in Wobble Chairs so they can focus better and stay on task. These Wobble Chairs will also be used during Independent Work Time where students can go use the Wobble Chairs to complete their work independently.
Wobble Chairs would definitely help my students that have a hard time sitting through long periods of time.
Being able to wobble around in their chairs would let students relieve their energy. I know my students will be excited to see new furniture in the classroom and it will also motivate them to stay on task for longer periods of time. I have small chairs, but I have students that move around a lot in them and have fallen off their chairs. In the future, I would like to have a flexible seating classroom and these 6 wobble chairs will be the beginning pieces of my future flexible seating classroom. Letting students choose their seats also give them flexibility and independence to take charge of their own learning. The wobble chairs would be a huge hit for my students and I know they will all be excited to sit at the wobble chair group.
