Help me give my students opportunities to have flexible seating with Wobble chairs and engaging learning experiences with math and reading tools to have achieve beneficial gains.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a proud teacher of 19 angelic 1st grade girl scholars. We are a single gender class in a single gender charter school in the southeast area of Washington DC. My girls are vivacious young ladies that are full of energy and excited to learn. We are sisters and are part of a sisterhood at our school. My students all come from low socioeconomic families and are of black decent. Most of my families are very hands on and do what they can to help support that children at home.
My Project
I have several students who are labeled with ADHD and need opportunities to expend their energy to better focus during class. Many of my students are unable to sit still for more than 10 seconds. The Wobble chairs will help my scholars expend their energy while still being able to participate, learn, and complete tasks more effectively. To service my scholars, I want to change my classroom to fit their needs, rather than them fitting their needs to our classrooms. This will be a great opportunity for them to be successful in the classroom and use meaning learning games while utilizing these resources. Students will also be able to take part in the use of Touch Phonics, Reading Comprehension Journals, and Math Tower Games all while utilizing these fantastic Wobble Chairs. Due to my students inability to focus, many of my girls are working below grade level and I hope to have better student achievement with these materials.
