Wobble While You Learn

My Students

The students I teach attend an Oklahoma Title I school where almost 100 percent of the students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch daily. In spite of these challenges, I want them to know they can overcome these less-than acceptable conditions and persevere to overcome through education and wise, healthy life choices. The children's diets at home often consists of fast-food, junk food, and/or carb and sugar-filled snacks. The two meals provided at school are the only balanced meals many receive. And they still only eat the carbs and sugar served!

These poor eating habits are creating overweight children destined to be unhealthy teens and adults!

With this grant I want to provide a daily opportunity for core fitness through the use of Stability Wobble Cushions for each student . We know that good health habits begin at a young age. School children in third grade spend a great deal of their day seated on a chair. These wobble cushions will cause them to use core muscles to balance, improve posture, and help with those children's need to fidget and move without disrupting others by getting up and moving around.

My Project

My students need 30 Stability Wobble Cushions, to develop healthy exercise habits; these Wobble Cushions will provide constant opportunities for core strength building while they learn! Sitting still is hard when you're eight years old. Paying attention is hard when you don't have healthy eating habits.

Life-long health starts when you're young.

Third graders need more exercise; they are required to sit for long amounts of time every day. Wiggling is necessary for many children...and teachers! These cushions will provide quiet movement while using core muscles that will help combat the poor eating habits of many children. These cushions are an investment in the health and well-being of children, helping them perform better at school.

Wobble Cushions provide an answer to starting young and learning to exercise your core while using good posture at your desk. My third grade students will use the Wobble Cushions every day at their desk and on the floor to encourage movement and exercise.
