Wobble While We Work!

My Students

The 24 amazing students that I have the privilege to work with live in the city. They come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our urban school is unique. Not only is there a strong academic focus, there is also a focus on the arts. Music, theater, and art is highly valued and encouraged. They come to school excited to learn every day, with many experiencing things at school that they, otherwise, may not experience. I want to keep these types of experiences happening inside my classroom!

My Project

Children need to move and science has proven that movement helps us learn! Anyone who has ever walked into an elementary classroom knows that they are very fidgety and that it can be hard for them to sit still! Wobble Stools help them have movement during the times that we need them to sit and focus. I currently have 6 of these stools in my classroom. I originally purchased them for my higher needs students, but I quickly came to realize that almost all of my students could benefit from sitting on these stools. They also really want to. I can be very difficult to tell a student "No" when they ask if they can sit on a stool or to have to decide who needs it more.

In my classroom, I try to be very sensitive to a student's sensory needs.

Wobble Stools are an excellent way to do this! Having more Wobble Stools will allow more children the ability to choose the appropriate seating for their needs that day.
