This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Si se puede" is the slogan we have in my transitional bilingual classroom in Trenton, New Jersey. By providing opportunities for students of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, these curious learners can believe that their goals are possible to achieve.

All my students have immigrated to the United States to access both the economic and educational advantages that exist here.

Their limited English proficiency is not limiting their desire to learn. They are eager to learn the required curriculum as they are developing skills in the English language.

These students have been in the country for no more than three years, and most have been here for less than a year. It is important that they participate in engaging and authentic activities to acquire their new language with confidence. As their teacher, I strive to provide them with an educational environment that fosters this growth!

My Project

My students need alternative seating that promotes movement while they they learn. With Wobble Chairs, students can move around, but their seat does not have to. Students can work out as they work through complicated content, easing their frustrations and anxieties. To create a student centered classroom, all students' needs must be considered, especially the need for choices. With diverse seating arrangements, student choice in the classroom will increase. Increasing student choice will increase engagement and promote authentic learning experiences.

These students have continuous academic instruction and practice from the start of school until their late lunch.
