Wobble Stools for Wiggling Kids!
My students need wobble stools to use during guided reading time. The groups of 6 students who sit at the guided reading table would benefit from being able to get their wiggles out while reading!
I work in a low-income, inclusive building with 400+ students in grades K-4. I am excited to meet my newest batch of third graders in less than two weeks! I hope to instill in them a sense of pride, help to build their confidence, and motivate them to reach new goals both in school and at home. Each year when I set up my classroom, I try to make it a warm environment where all students feel welcomed and loved.
I plan to keep these stools at my small group reading table. When guided reading groups come to sit with me during workstations, they need an outlet for their wiggles. These stools would be the perfect way for the students to be able to move about while focusing on improving their reading at the same time. Many of my students are well below reading at a third grade level and need as much concentrated reading time that they can get. These same students often have OT needs and have the hardest time sitting still. Giving them the option of a wiggle stool will help them to focus and do their best reading!
