Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in a low socioeconomic area and all of my students are on free or reduced lunch. They enjoy working together in cooperative groups, and sharing their creativity with one another. Seeing my students encourage each other and growing from their mistakes is rewarding, and I would like to prove more opportunities for them to stretch themselves as scholars.
In order to facilitate a classroom that is focused on collaboration and teamwork, I would like to offer my students more options when it comes to flexible seating.
There is not a one size fits all approach when it comes to learning environments, but if students have the right accommodations and environment for them, they will thrive.
My Project
These wobble stools will make a huge difference in my students' learning because those students who need an outlet to get out any wiggles while they learn are able to do so without losing focus and becoming distracted.
I have varying learning needs in my 6th grade classroom and these stools would provide the accommodations they need.
My classroom is student-led for the most part and my students are very mobile throughout the day. Certain learning tasks require different learning requirements and levels of focus. Students who are given an outlet to release that extra energy do better than students who do not. These stool will provide my 6th graders with the opportunity to adjust their learning environment to what they need in that moment to be successful.
