Wobble Stools for Alternative Seating & Student Movement

My Students

Who enjoys sitting still in a hard chair all day while working? It's hard enough for adults to sit for long periods of time and kids definitely need more movement!

Upon entering my classroom, you won’t often see all of my students seated at their assigned desks facing front!

Children these days only sit still for short periods of time and as a teacher, it is part of my job to find ways to keep them engaged during seat time. My students thrive in this moving classroom dynamic. The kids love the alternative seats in my classroom. They choose where they are going to sit based on what they feel they need at that particular time. I want them to have the options of knowing what works best for them without the seats becoming a distraction. We currently have standing desks, wheel-y chairs, one high stool, and one wobbly stool. Also, students will often choose to head to the floor with a clipboard.

My Project

Wobble stools allow students some movement without being disruptive. The stools have a rounded ergonomic base that allows for moving and flexing without leaving your seat. (An added benefit is promoting good posture and core strength!) They are perfect for the required seat time throughout a given day. My students love the one wobble stool we have now. Kids who choose to use the stool we have now are better able to focus and learn what is being presented to them when they are given the chance to move a little.

If my students are able to focus, then they will be able to learn and be successful in school.

Plus as a bonus the different types of seats are fun and who doesn't like to have fun? I expect my students to be more engaged during lessons and better able to get their fidgeting and movement needs met with access to these wobble stools. I anticipate happier and more comfortable students.
