Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th, 5th, and 6th grade ESL students attend a high needs school in Massachusetts. All of my students are newcomers to the United States, and some have interrupted learning.

My highly motivated scholars have inquisitive minds and a thirst for learning.

As newcomers, my students need extra supports such as bilingual texts, picture cues, and small group support to meet their more diverse needs as learners. Our classroom is designed to create an intense amount of targeted differentiation to help our students acclimate to a new country and language while filling in major learning gaps in all content areas.

My Project

My students with special learning needs have very wiggly bodies and are able to concentrate most when they are allowed to wiggle a small amount while they are working. Also, because they are expected to sit so long during the day, they are at risk of loosing some core strength.

We are requesting wobble stools so that our students are able to release their energy and maintain their core strength in an appropriate and non disruptive way during learning times.

Furthermore, our classroom is enrolled to capacity and we just don't have enough seats for everyone at small group learning stations. These wobble stools will meet a basic need that our classroom has for more chairs.
