This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students in Baltimore City are caring, compassionate, and inquisitive learners. They care deeply about their learning and bring their best selves to school every day.

At our school, we value and cherish inclusive practices.

Because each child is unique, we understand that they have unique needs. Our students come to us with diverse backgrounds and academic levels and, in some cases, with disabilities. Our job as educators is to know, understand and meet their needs so that each child can succeed.

My Project

Flexible seating is a staple in inclusive education. My children are taught that each child is unique and everyone's learning needs are different.

Our classroom hosts a variety of choices, whether that be: choosing different methods to demonstrate understanding, allowing students to schedule their learning targets for the day or week, or selecting a classroom seat that fosters comfort and enhanced productivity.

These wobble seats will add to our classroom environment. Students are already given the option to sit on soft seats, exercise balls, carpet squares or in standard chairs, but we are missing some methods for learning while on the move.
