Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a high-energy group of first graders in a low-income neighborhood. All of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Our school is a Title I school with a high English language learner population.

Many of our students come to school knowing very little English.

Our work in first grade is to introduce our students to literacy in English and to begin them on the path of school norms that they will take with them through their academic careers.

It is so exciting teaching young minds as they begin their progress through school!

My Project

My students have a lot of energy, but they have to spend a lot of time sitting down every day. The more opportunity they get to move and be active, the easier it is for them to stay focused in school.

Wobble chairs allow them to move around while they work, and help them stay focused and on-task.

We plan to use our wobble chairs at our computer table. My students are required to complete math and reading lessons on the computer each week, and these chairs will be especially useful in helping them stay focused while they work on the computer.
