Help me give my students a welcoming, and comfortable learning space that helps our scholars do their best learning each day! Wobble chairs are a great flexible seating option that I hope to give to our scholars.
"All scholars will be equipped with the knowledge, character and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good." This is our school's mission and is why our families choose our school for their children. It is through this partnership with our families that allows us to help our scholars learn and grow each day. However, this is not without its challenges. Most of our scholars are from immigrant families whose first language is not English.
98% of our scholars qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Despite these incredible challenges, they show up every day ready to learn and have fun. This is why I want what is best for my scholars learning and why I am asking for flexible seating in my classroom. I know that when scholars are comfortable they can do their best learning and are more engaged. Wobble chairs provide the movement that my scholars need to stay engaged and will fit all the different ages I work with in small groups.
My Project
This year I have had the privilege of being our schools reading specialist and get to work everyday with scholars in grades K-3! I pull small groups in our schools library to work on their phonics, phonemic awareness and fluency. Working in the library has it challenges because the space is shared with the entire school and the chairs that are currently available to us don't fit all the different age ranges I work with. I also feel passionate about flexible seating and know how much it helps scholars do their best learning. My hope is to provide wobble chairs in our library so my groups have a comfortable space to work in AND a place that can fit all the scholars I work with.
Unfortunately, due to budget cuts my position doesn't have money to spend on anything this year.
I would love to have the opportunity to get wobble chairs in our school library to not only benefit my small groups but allow the whole school to enjoy them when they come into the library.
