This year I have a group of 16 hard-working, motivated first grade students. They enjoy starting each day with morning songs and meetings, spending the day learning new concepts, and ending each day with special handshakes.
My students thrive on positive feedback.
We use flexible seating in the classroom both at the tables and our group meeting spots. My students love having the ability to make successful choices on where they work. First grade is a year filled with reading growth and math facts. My goal is to have students enter the room excited for the day, ready to learn new things and leave wanting to know more.
My Project
My students have benefited from flexible seating in our classroom, but their options are a little sparse. Flexible seating not only meets the sensory needs of my first grade students, but also helps them concentrate on the lessons and has improved the quality of their work. The six wobble chairs I am requesting will be used in a small group setting, so students can wiggle without distracting other students.
Wobble chairs will give my students the ability to move safely in the classroom while effectively completing their assignments.
Many children have the need to release energy throughout the day, so having wobble chairs will not only benefit their need for physical movement but also their mental stimulation.
