Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and curious second grade Multi Language Learners in an inner city, Title I, low income, high poverty school district. I have 21 students that are from very diverse backgrounds and all receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are faced with many challenges in their young lives but they love being in school and are eager learn and to put into action what they learn. They are inquisitive and very social within their classroom. They absolutely love reading, writing and math and helping each other. My students support each other as they learn, struggle, and love to celebrate their own successes as well as class wide successes. I love when my students get excited about learning. These materials are the things that can make a significant positive impact on them to help them learn and grow. They strive to do their best on a daily basis and love to share the work they have done.
My Project
Due to COVID things in the classroom have changed dramatically for the past 2 school years. After being able to share and work closely together students had to learn to work independently and distanced. I am happy that this year things have changed some. My students can now again work together because they are masked. This kidney shaped dry erase table will allow my students a space in the classroom to work collaboratively together in small groups. My students love to show their thoughts and ideas while learning and this table will give them an outlet to do so.
