With a Rug, Comes New Adventures!

Help me give my students a classroom rug so they can have a space where they can complete their work and build a classroom community.

My Students

My students are very active, and energetic learners who love coming to school to learn and be social with their friends.

My students are a group of 2nd graders who attend a Title 1 school and nearly all of the students receive free or reduced lunch.

As a teacher, my professional role is to provide the best educational experience possible for my students. Having a class rug will allow everyone to have their own comfortable working space in the room.

My Project

Every day, I like to gather my students to the back of the classroom and start whole group instructions before we break up into small groups. Currently in order for students to come to the meeting place in the room, students must grab a pillow if they cannot fit on the small rug and find a spot. But with 25 students, that takes valuable time away from learning and the constant "I can't fit" or "she is touching me" begins.

Having a designated classroom rug will help maximize learning time more effectively since students would already know where to sit so they can focus on learning.

Also, it would allow students a comfortable space to continue to build a caring and respectful classroom community.

This rug will benefit my current students as well as the students I will have in the future.
