Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My goal this year was to be organized and in turn, teach my students organization skills through my modeling. I am working very hard on achieving this goal this year. I feel that if I can teach my students how to organize themselves, they can spend more time on learning and creating.

I teach fourth grade to nineteen students at an inner city school.

I have very few students this year who are working at, above, or close to grade level. Despite their academic challenges, my students love coming to school. They have fun throughout the day and learn a great deal just from their personal interactions.

My Project

My primary goal with this request is organization. My students do not have binders to store their homework in. My students are currently using folders that they are trying very hard to maintain and keep from falling apart. My students only have one notebook each. We are requesting enough notebooks so that we can begin making our interactive reading notebooks. We love to make posters demonstrating what we've learned in class. We need extra glue and scissors to help us make those projects.

The supplies that I have requested will be used for everyday school activities including homework, project making and interactive learning notebooks.

I like to teach my kids that there is a reason for everything they learn in school. Therefore, I try to relate everything back to their real world.
