My Students

I have a class of 23 fourth grade students from all backgrounds. These are hardworking students with a desire to learn. They love math challenges and reading "book clubs". They take pride in working through challenges and supporting each other and encouraging their learning.

My class lacks the technology needed for learning.

I am looking to put more technology into the hands of my students. We have a classroom budget of $70 for the entire year to purchase any materials.

My Project

With limited funding provided for the essentials any extras become just dreams that sit in cart waiting to be funded. Pencil sharpeners are used daily and are the first to wear out. The children use whiteboards all day long to show their learning and I can formatively assess with a quick glance and know who understands and who needs support. The children love using them and ensures 100% involvement. My current supply is in need of replacements. They are broken or are permanently marked. New whiteboards, markers and erasers are essential. An Instax camera allows for quick documentation of an exciting project the children have completed and allows it to be posted on our "Pride Board". These photos are also a spring board for journal writing. Our theme for the school year is “The Power of YET”. I would like t shirts for my team to wear to promote this positive mindset. I am also asking for Amazon Fires to build up the technology in my classroom, they will be used for research, accessing web based programs required by our county, and making media presentations to show their learning. Drawing and measuring angles is a fourth grade standard so protractors are a must. The kids will use these math tools to develop their understanding of angles. Staplers get used to put projects and work together. All of these items seem so basic but with no school funding to cover them we have to go without. Thank you for considering this project
