The classroom carpet has been such a wonderful gift! The students noticed the new carpet as soon as they entered the classroom. They put their backpacks down and immediately sat down on the carpet and all smiled at each other. The carpet has calming colors to add to the soothing classroom feeling.\r\n\r\nThe carpet has large squares so that students can have their own sitting spot on the carpet. It helps them to know their boundaries with each other and to respect personal space while seated on it, which leads to less distractions during a lesson. \r\n\r\nMy students are so happy that they now have a flexible seating option to come to the carpet when they need to focus. It has been helpful for students working in groups to gather at the carpet and share their ideas. I have noticed that they are communicating more with each other. It has created a safe and relaxing area to allow students to share their ideas. In addition, we now gather on the carpet for some of our critical and creative lessons.
