Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my first-year of teaching and I honestly could not have asked for a better group of kids to grow alongside. Most of my students families are from rural pueblos in Yucatán, Mexico, which also happens to be where my own family is from. This is the first time in my life that I feel such a strong cultural connection with students and families. My students and their families have cried with me, laughed with me and completely redefined love for me. I cannot thank them enough for giving me a sense of home so quickly in the school year.

I teach at a Title 1 school as a bilingual 2nd grade teacher, so all of my students are from low-income backgrounds and are just starting to learn English.

They remind me of myself in so many ways as I was also an English language learner in school. My students have so much brilliance and creativity to share with the world. Unfortunately, they do not have access to resources that allow them to do this. Please consider helping my students access what they deserve.

My Project

We have no heat in our classroom. This makes it incredibly difficult to concentrate and learn. We are located in San Francisco, so our winters are not kind. Help us remedy this with a classroom heater!

With COVID on the rise, we are in need of better, more protective masks.

Unfortunately, this means bearing an expense many of our families cannot make. Please consider helping keep me and my students healthy with KN95 masks! We will use the KN95 masks to protect ourselves and others during the ongoing global pandemic.
