This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you like the smell of a brand new book? My freshman students need to start the year with fresh books so that when I tell them to sniff their books, they don't think I am punishing them!

At this moment, I am looking out of my classroom window at my students' home, the barrio.

Yes, it is the poorest section of town, but the beauty of our culture should be equally conveyed in the quality of our classroom materials. Sadly, it is not. Shouldn't our students be greeted on the first day of school with brand new books?

My Project

We will begin the 9th grade by studying a hero's journey. Classically, we will begin with Greek mythology and end our journey with modern day heroes. We will explore the gods and goddesses of Greek Mythology by reading, "Heroes, Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths" by Bernard Evslin.
