We've been using it in performance opportunities for students and in classroom enrichment while listening to music. Even the drumline, which I'm now teaching this year, is using it! In the first two scenarios, I can play music so much easier for students without connecting a bunch of wires to a PA. They also play along with music tracks, or with a click track, as the drumline does. It helps with students' live performances, through which they learn.\r\n\r\nThey have really enjoyed having audible music more accessible to them. All of the connected wires, mentioned above, made playing music for them so much trouble, that I often didn't.\r\n\r\nI wish I could send video, so you could hear the music I play through the speaker and students' reactions. I see the change from day one to day ten to end of year, when the resistance resurfaces. In between August and May there is a surrender I think we adults all feel, caught between dreading adult life and honoring it. For teenagers, an imposed daily journal feels a bit like laundry - an unwanted task with a surprisingly desirable result.\r\n\r\nMy favorite journaler so far is Kai. He is not tuned in to class or school. Headphones, not earbuds, dangle from his neck in a perpetual definace of new laws about technology. Writing is fragmented, sentences narrow in the page's center. Yet - every day, he writes more than the last. Nothing about words in a journal will ever hurt him.","fullyFundedDate":1749141961797,"projectUrl":"project/generative-journaling-for-teens-sy-2526/9390925/","projectTitle":"Generative Journaling for Teens SY 25/26","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Levine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9559712_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x506,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717091894155","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9559712"},{"teacherId":7879709,"projectId":9011859,"letterContent":"Thank you, truly, for your kind donation. The money that you donated went to purchasing books for a huge literacy event that we host at my high school each year. We solicit donations from around the community so that we can are able to offer books to anyone who comes to the event. But it's often quite difficult to find books that are representative of our student population. Which is where your donation comes in! The books that we purchased with your kind donation included LGBTQ+ titles, BIPOC titles, and stories that students can relate to. And, as you can see from the photos, the students loved their books. We were able to find books for anyone who came to the event. Some kids or families took home just one, but some took home boxes. And it was such a wonderful feeling knowing that these students and families were able to find books that they were interested and excited in and able to take them home. Thank you so much for helping us make this event a success. We will continue to host this event for years to come, so I hope you come back to DonorsChoose next year and find our project and help us again!","fullyFundedDate":1739373222508,"projectUrl":"project/needed-books-for-love-of-reading-week-2/9011859/","projectTitle":"Needed: Books for Love of Reading Week 2025!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bodanyi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7879709_orig.jpg?crop=1423,1423,x508,y322&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1623200109634","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missbodanyi"},{"teacherId":6906214,"projectId":6103890,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for these book donations to my classroom. Books can have a profound and lasting impact on students' educational experiences and opportunities. Access to books in the classroom enriches the learning environment by providing students with the resources they need to expand their literacy skills, explore new subjects, and foster a love for reading (especially this last one!!!) For many students in underserved communities, the classroom library may be the only source of books they have access to, and having a variety of materials to choose from allows them to engage with different genres, topics, and reading levels. This access can improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and overall academic performance, setting the foundation for future success.
