My Project
This is my second year teaching AP 3D Studio Art, and my students are limited in materials. I supply them with clay since I teach ceramics, but they could use other materials. Although having limits can inspire creativity, I would like them to explore more mediums. Slowly, I will add more mediums to the classroom, and I want to start with metalsmithing.
These metalsmithing tools and supplies will help them explore another 3D material and incorporate it into their prior knowledge of other mediums.
This will allow the students to synthesize their materials, which is part of their AP exam portfolio requirements.
When I attended college, my focus was on metalsmithing. I would love to bring my passion for metalsmithing into my classroom. My students are curious, and this would be a suitable medium for them to try something challenging. It would help them overcome fears of using torches and how to be safe. I can't wait to share my passion with my students!
