My Students

Singing, dancing, jumping, laughing, and learning are a few verbs that describe the welcoming atmosphere you will see daily in our classroom and virtually. Our ParentAware, four-star rated pre-kindergarten classroom has been running for 16 years and is ready for updated materials and furnishings.

The amazing children in our classroom deserve clean, high-quality educational materials that are visually appealing and safe to use daily.

Eighty-three percent of the students at my building qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. One of the honors I have, as the lead teacher, is that I get to collaborate with the families of our students. I get to help ensure their child’s first experience in school is a positive one! Many of my students are English Language Learners. I work to incorporate their home languages into our environment and routines. Our young students have the opportunity to learn through play and guided discoveries both inside and outside. From day one, all of our students learn mindful strategies for understanding their emotions, handling disappointments and disagreements. We do this by using games, solution kit cards, a breathing ball, a chime, role-playing, and lots of practice, of course.

My Project

This Wooden Carolina Storage Center with 20 Cubbies would provide plenty of space for our morning classroom students to access individual science activities during free choice time. Each cubby would contain a safe spot for our morning class students to preserve projects they create in the science area.

Each child would be able to decorate their cubby and have a space to store additional items such as wiggly eyes, scissors, glue sticks, paper, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, partially created projects and more.

This storage center would help our students each have a space to call their own!
