My Students

In the 11 years I have taught, I can say that every group of 1st grade students has been special. I have the privilege of witnessing kids learn to read, which makes my job amazing. I teach an average of 20 students each school year in a very low-income, rural area of our state. Majority of our little ones have to ride on a school bus for at least 45 minutes to get to school. We have a high percentage of students that are enrolled in our free or reduced lunch program.

My Project

Have you seen 1st graders and how often they "stay still" in their seats? My students and I would love three wobble chairs for our classroom. These seats will provide a place for my students at our kidney table as I work with them in small groups.

They will also help my students who have extra energy be able to stay focused both during small group and whole group class time.

I have seen how wobble chairs have helped other students expel their extra energy during class without disrupting others. They can be used at both my small group sessions as well as at students' individual desks.
