My students are a group of very active 5-6 year old students. There are 19 big personalities within our four classroom walls and that always makes for a fun day in Mrs. Lusano's class! Our class uses inquiry-based learning to explore the world around us. These kindergartners enjoy hands-on learning and using a variety of tools throughout the course of their learning experiences.
My students are just entering into the International Baccalaureate programme where they are learning to be inquirers, communicators, and thinkers to name a few.
My students are special because they are all very different from one another, yet they accept each other and make a great team. Each has something important and unique to add to our group which makes for a lot of fun and great learning each and every day.
My Project
It's common knowledge that kindergarten students are always on the move. This is why I am seeking to increase the kinds of flexible seating that I can offer my students as we learn. My students enjoy moving around the classroom as they complete different learning activities. This new seating will allow them two more types of flexible seating to wiggle while they work. The balance balls will allow my students to bounce while still completing various learning activities. The wobble cushions will help with the same thing. My students are constantly moving, so this will give them a way to channel that movement as we learn together. We won't be confined to our tables while we learn, but will be able to spread out and maximize our space while learning new things.
