My Students

I am a special education teacher that teaches 3rd and 4th-grade students within an inclusion setting. My students are in the general education classroom with push-in support from me throughout the day. The students in my classrooms come from a variety of backgrounds with most of them being economically disadvantaged. Our school is very culturally diverse with families coming from all different parts of the world.

My students are hard-working, smart, and an active part of their learning community.

Last year was a tough year for the students since they were remote learning for most of, for some all of, the school year. Since they have all come back into the building this year, my students have made amazing gains in their educational journey. The happiness the students have to just be back in school with their teachers and peers is incredible to see.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. For students with learning delays, trying to concentrate during lessons can be difficult. In order to help with their engagement, flexible seating is an easy way for them to move around while still being able to focus on the lesson or task at hand. When students are given the choice of seating, they can get more work completed and are more focused.

Many of my students have attention issues and struggle with sitting in a regular chair.

My students are noticeably more engaged when they are able to stand or move around during instruction... Just imagine how a wobble chair or big ball chair will help them be able to move around and focus all while sitting during instruction. My students will love these options!
