My Students

I teach 1st Grade in a K-5 Elementary School. I work in a city school with four hundred students who receive free breakfast and lunch and some of their home lives are very unstable. I want to make their classroom a comfortable and fun place to learn.

I will have 20 inquisitive first graders and I can't wait to watch them grow!

These students love to work and play and they are enthusiastic learners. They need to be able to move and groove while working.

My Project

First graders love to be on the move! Sitting on the wobble chairs while completing work will allow them to do just that and focus on the work at hand. These chairs can be used at student tables, during center time, independent reading time, or anywhere around the room.

Students love choices.

Creating areas around the room where students can move to focus on work will allow them to become more independent workers while making good choices. The pillows could be used to lay on the floor during iPad time or to curl up with a good book during independent reading time.
