My Students

I have the privilege of teaching 20 amazing, eager, excited, funny, and loving kindergarteners at a small rural school in Kansas.

In my opinion I have the best job!

Seeing the world through a five-year old’s eyes and watching them learn and grow, is magical.

Each of my students has various strengths and challenges. 1/3 of my students have some type of learning disability and many of them come from low income households. They are each unique in their own special way, but one thing is true of ALL of my kindergarteners they are very active little people. Truly there never is a dull moment in our classroom and that fills my heart with joy everyday.

My Project

Kids need movement to learn. When we ask our children to sit still and be quiet, we are going against what their little bodies naturally want to do. Just like adults, sitting for long periods of time can lead to a loss of focus and concentration. This is especially true for children with ADHD. Current research shows that when moving, children with ADHD have an easier time learning and focusing. I feel this also true for kindergarteners as a whole. To help with this, I am asking for 8 Wobble Chairs for my classroom.

Using the Wobble Chairs will allow my students to safely move and wiggle while still working.

Having the freedom to move will enhance focus, concentration, and overall learning. Thank you for taking the time to read my request. I hope you will consider helping me create the best learning environment for all of my amazing students. One small and simple change, such as seating, can make a huge impact.
