Wiggle While You Work!

My students need flexible seating options to keep them engaged yet comfortable. These seats have also proven to strengthen your core as you sit and to support back alignment... they will promote a healthy lifestyle!

My Students

This year I will be working with students from many different classrooms. The students I will be working with are those who may benefit from a smaller class size, and even from instruction that is delivered in an alternative way. My room will be a place where these students who may sometimes struggle with regular classroom work and instruction will feel more comfortable.

Rather than asking my students to stop what they are doing or to sit a certain way, I ask them to explore and discover ways that they can be the most successful.

Being that I work with elementary aged children, let's face it, sometimes they are just... "wiggly." So, let's keep holding our students to high standards, but, let's let them be kids... and sometimes kind of wiggly!

My Project

By no surprise, all students can have a hard time sitting still in their regular classroom chairs. Well, many of us can say the same! I often choose to work from my couch or a comfortable chair at home. These chairs will provide my students with a seating choice where they can feel comfortable enough to do their best work, even if it means moving around a bit. In return, their movement will not be a distraction to others since the chairs will allow for it.

A regular classroom chair may work for some students or even during certain parts of the day, but, it does not work for all students all of the time!

Flexible seating will provide my students with the option to sit however is most comfortable. By providing my students with more seating options than just a regular chair or the rug, they will be able to focus their attention on the assigned task, rather than on how unconformable they are. They will also feel empowered in making choices about their learning.
