My students need the Storex Book bins and the Foldable Cloth Storage bins for storing their daily materials. They need the Wobble chairs, Stack stools, and floor pillows for flexible seating options.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a large, diverse group of students who have a lot of energy and a tremendous thirst for knowledge. They have a highly curious nature and soak up new content, like sponges.
Our school is a title one school located next to an Air Force base.
They are very transient and get moved from school to school often. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I want them to be able to learn, explore and be engaged in an enriching environment.
My Project
This year, we are focusing on student centered classrooms and engagement. Flexible seating is a great way to create that type of classroom. Students will have the choice each day to come in and decide where/what they want to sit in.
By having different seating options and the freedom of choice to be able to wiggle while they work, students will be able to be more active and engaged in their learning.
Stackable stools, wobble chairs, floor cushions, bean bags, and regular chairs with tennis balls on the bottom for easy moving will be some of the options. Students will also have book bins and collapsible storage bins to put their normal "desk" materials in for easy moving!
