My students are an energetic and ambitious group of kids! They have a love for learning that lights up the room. They come from a variety of backgrounds and a varied level of school readiness. Our school is a Title I funded school with many students from low income households.
These sweet and energetic kiddos have more energy than they know what to do with.
They are eager to learn but sitting still is not in their vocabulary. Providing choices to move and wiggle while they work will improve their ability to stay engaged. It also gives them the opportunity to take ownership of their learning environment by recognizing what their mind and body needs to succeed.
My Project
Kids need to move! These items will be essential tools for my students learning. This will give them the opportunity to do that while enhancing their focus and ability to learn. They will have the choice to sit and wiggle, choose another area of the room, fidget while they sit on the carpet, etc.
It's not a one size fits all world, so the classroom should not be either.
They are going to move no matter what and I am hoping to give them some appropriate tools such as wobble stools, floor seats, and lap desks to do that while not distracting those around them! Help us wiggle, learn, and grow!
