My students come from diverse backgrounds: some are recent immigrants and most families struggle with poverty as 83% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Yet all my students have hopes and dreams they plan on reaching despite their current challenging circumstances. I teach 4th grade in an urban, Title 1 school.
My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and excited to learn.
They love hand-on activities and games. They love to move! Many students live with uncertainty outside of school and part of my job is to create a classroom environment that captures their attention and facilitates learning.
Most of my students struggle with concentrating during instruction and work time, and many struggle with ADD/ADHD. A Hokki stool has a convex base that allows movement in all directions without distracting others. This comfortable stool provides an outlet to move, while still sitting and helps students concentrate on learning. In my classroom we call it a wiggle seat. I rotate the wiggle seats through my students, but don't have enough to reach many students. My students are constantly asking to use the wiggle seat and would love more opportunities to benefit more students. Hokki stools are sturdy and durable so they'll benefit students for many years to come!
