This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school went from 400 to 900 students over the summer due to the demand for a high-quality, college-preparatory school in our neighborhood. In our neighborhood in West Dallas, for many of our families, their student will be the first in their family to graduate high school, let alone college! The path to college and beyond begins in primary school in creating a lifelong love of learning. Many of my scholars are English language learners. The path to success starts with having fun while learning!

My Project

My scholars need wiggle stools and wobble balls to help keep them active as they work. My scholars attend a college preparatory school and have extended school day. They are in their seats for as many 7 hours each day! That is a long time if you are 8!

My scholars helped to brainstorm ways that they would be able to move in the classroom.

During writing they submitted ideas to me. Many scholars suggested wanting more seating options. They wanted to have wiggle stools and wobble balls to allow for them to make more choices about where to sit, as well as having more than one option.
