The iPad devices have opened doors for students who struggle with traditional print materials, allowing them to adjust font sizes, enable text-to-speech, and read at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed. This accessibility has empowered them to engage with books more independently, fostering both confidence and a genuine love for reading.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the ability to choose books that interest them and personalize their reading experience. One student, who previously avoided reading altogether, now eagerly starts each day by exploring animal-themed books with the help of the iPad's text narration feature. Watching that student smile while navigating a book on their own has been one of the most rewarding moments of the year. Because of you, our classroom is not only more inclusive, it's more inspired. The laminator and supplies have allowed me to create reusable, hands-on learning tools that withstand daily use; from vocabulary flashcards and math centers to visual schedules and behavior charts. These durable resources give students more opportunities for independent practice, peer collaboration, and immediate feedback, all while saving time and materials in the long run.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most are the personalized stickers and brightly colored visuals we can now use to celebrate progress and highlight learning goals. One student, who previously struggled with staying motivated, now lights up each time they earn a custom sticker or interact with a laminated game board they helped create. The tangible nature of these resources turns everyday tasks into interactive experiences, helping students of all learning styles stay focused, feel proud of their growth, and take ownership of their learning. My students' eyes lit up as they opened the boxes and saw the colorful LEGO sets and animal-themed books. We immediately launched into our first book-club meeting by reading National Geographic Kids: Weird But True Animals and building LEGO models to represent each animal discussed. One student created a giraffe with an extended neck and proudly explained its unique features to the class, while another designed a whimsical version of a jellyfish. These hands-on builds allowed students to visually and physically connect with what they were reading, strengthening comprehension and sparking thoughtful discussion.\r\n\r\nThe next step in our project involves students choosing an animal from one of the books and conducting a mini-research project. They'll use the information they gather to build a LEGO habitat and write a short report to present to their peers. This integration of reading, STEM, and creative expression has ignited a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Thank you for making this meaningful, multi-dimensional experience possible. The phonics materials have been a game changer for my emerging readers—students are now eagerly participating in small-group activities, blending sounds, and decoding words with confidence. The colorful, hands-on tools have made phonics feel like play, and even my most reluctant readers are now raising their hands to try. One of my favorite moments so far was seeing a student who once avoided reading time proudly read an entire sentence using one of the new phonics boards—it was a milestone we celebrated together.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also made a huge difference in our day-to-day learning. For many students, having a healthy snack mid-morning helps them stay focused and energized, especially those who may come to school without breakfast. It's a small gesture that communicates care and helps create a classroom environment where every student feels supported. The Expo markers have helped us bring lessons to life—whether it's solving math problems on mini whiteboards or practicing spelling patterns during phonics, these tools are used daily and with enthusiasm. Looking ahead, we're working on a storytelling unit where students will create and illustrate their own short books, applying the phonics skills they've been building. Your support has made this possible, and I can't thank you enough for investing in our classroom and our kids' growth.","fullyFundedDate":1732835116143,"projectUrl":"project/phonics-stations/8936872/","projectTitle":"Phonics Stations","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Simon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9832951"},{"teacherId":9845697,"projectId":8981603,"letterContent":"Our class has been loving our new yoga and mindfulness tools! One special moment was during a recent fire drill. Before, drills would cause a lot of stress for my classmates and me, making it hard to calm down afterward. But this time, we used our new breathing balls and focus chimes to help us feel safe and relaxed again. We practiced \"Countdown to Calm\" breathing together, and within minutes, the classroom felt peaceful again. Now, we use these techniques every day—before transitions, after recess, and even during morning check-ins to start the day feeling good. \r\n\r\n\r\nWhen we first saw the materials, everyone was super excited! Some of us were curious about the breathing balls and wanted to try them right away, while others loved listening to the chimes and watching the colors of the candle glow. One of my friends said, \"This feels like magic!\" We took turns exploring everything, and now we each have a favorite way to calm down. \r\n\r\nNow that we've learned how to use these tools, our next step is to teach others! We are working on making a \"Calm Corner\" in our classroom where students can choose a mindfulness activity when they need a break. We are also creating little \"How-To\" cards with pictures and simple words so everyone can remember how to use the breathing exercises. Soon, we will share these ideas with other classes, and maybe even teach our families how to use them at home!","fullyFundedDate":1739571661254,"projectUrl":"project/calm-minds-focused-learning-implementi/8981603/","projectTitle":"Calm Minds, Focused Learning: Implementing Yoga and Mindfulness Techniques","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joseph","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9845697_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739993100010","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9845697"},{"teacherId":9122264,"projectId":8367067,"letterContent":"I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share how incredibly valuable the resources you provided are, and how much of a positive impact they are having in my classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students are already making great use of the highlighters, which have become an essential tool in our daily math lessons. They use them to annotate key words when solving word problems, and to draw place value lines, especially when solving multi-digit addition and subtraction problems with regrouping. The highlighters have also been incredibly helpful in differentiating between area and perimeter, a visual strategy I taught last year in 4th grade and their 5th-grade teachers have shared that those students have continued to use this same strategy.\r\n\r\nWe've also been able to use the highlighters in many other creative ways, and I'm excited to see how they will assist my students when we dive into geometry and fractions later this year. It's amazing to see how versatile these tools are and how they support our learning in so many ways.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase circles for my small group table have been a game-changer as well. They help me designate students' workspaces, so we can dive right into learning without the need to distribute additional materials. This small but effective change has made our small group time much more productive, and I can already see how it's enhancing the learning experience for everyone involved.\r\n\r\nMy students absolutely love the materials! It's been so exciting to witness their \"ah!\" moments as they discover how the resources help them understand concepts more clearly and solve problems with confidence. The enthusiasm they bring to class is truly inspiring, and I know these tools are a big part of that excitement.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donation and your support of my students' education. The difference these resources are making is immeasurable, and I am so grateful to you for helping provide these tools that are sparking curiosity, improving learning, and building confidence in my classroom.\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt appreciation,","fullyFundedDate":1715018089371,"projectUrl":"project/creating-brighter-futures/8367067/","projectTitle":"Creating Brighter Futures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Campos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9122264_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752289695283","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9122264"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105008","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":943,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":49.1,"schoolId":105008,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Uplift Heights Preparatory Primary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Uplift Heights Preparatory Primary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/uplift-heights-preparatory/105008"}
