First grade is an exciting year! Students are growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians every day! They are learning to work collaboratively, problem-solve, and building independence. My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe and respected.
Over 25% of the students at my school are military connected.
This means that we have students moving in and out of our school all the time. We are proud of our military families and aim to make our school feel like home!
My school works hard to ensure that ALL students needs are met, both academically, emotionally, and socially!
My Project
My students come to school every day full of energy and excitement! First graders work hard every day to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. This is hard work! Six and seven-year-olds were not meant to "sit still" or sit in traditional chairs all day. They need opportunities to move and get their wiggles out throughout the school day!
Hokki Stools would provide my students with a safe way to get their "wiggles out" while they work.
First graders need choice to experiment and discover their learning style. Do they learn and focus best while seated at their desk/table? Do they do best when they're stretched out on the floor with a clipboard?
I purchased a class set of scoop rockers for my class, as well as some Adirondack chairs. The students LOVE having flexible seating options! These Hokki stools would allow students to safely get their wiggles out while working at a table during small group or playing a game with a friend.
Our current stools do not "wiggle" with the students, which results in students falling or the stools tipping over. Hokki Stools are a PERFECT solution! I just KNOW my students would LOVE them and it would help them focus on the task at hand!
