Wiggle Where You Work!

My students need tools to help them feel comfortable wherever they work in the classroom, including fidget chair bands for wiggly feet, wobble cushions for sitting on the floor, and lap desks for working around the room.

My Students

My students need choices. I have learned that most of my students do not like to work just at their desks. They like to choose spaces that are comfortable for them. Students at this age need to move, spread out, and be comfortable in order to do their best learning.

As a teacher over the past three years, I have seen that having a comfortable place to work leads to increased focus and engagement.

Only sitting still at a desk on a hard plastic chair all day does not allow them to reach their full learning potential.

My classroom will be made up of 24 students from varying backgrounds, and I will have several students with ADHD. These students have a tendency to struggle with sitting still. Giving these students a choice in fidget chair bands at their desk or moving to another spot in the room will aid in their learning.

My students are in a school that has over 40% of students receiving either free or reduced lunch. Many of my students receive Title Math and Reading services.

My Project

Many of my students find it very difficult to sit still in a desk all day. I have a hybrid model of flexible seating with different seating options in my classroom. Some students still prefer sitting at desks, so I have not removed my desks. Though sometimes they still get wiggly, which is why I feel that getting fidget chair bands will help these students.

I want to have many types of tools available in our classroom for students to use in order to do their best learning.

The wobble cushions can be used in several different ways. Students can use them at their desks for extra cushioning which in turn makes them more comfortable so they can focus longer. The wobble cushions can be moved around the room to allow students a comfortable choice in their work area.

The lap desks are for times when students choose to work in spaces other than at their desks when they need a sturdy work surface. They will work perfectly for collaboration among groups on the carpet.

I hope you will consider donating towards these tools for my classroom. I really think the fidget chair bands, wobble cushions, and lap desks will make a positive difference in my students lives. Thank you!
