Helping my school children become lovers of learning is my biggest goal each year. To help my children be successful requires a great deal of modeling, repeated teaching, and patience. The joy on their faces when they master a concept or skill is the best payday in the world!
I am blessed to work with a group of energetic, inquisitive six, seven,and eight year-olds who love to explore and learn about the world around them.
Together we work and study in our classroom "home" each day. Our school is an interesting mix of families from a wide range of economic backgrounds who represent a variety of cultural heritages. We enjoy learning about the world through reading, technology, and real-life, hands-on projects. The parents and families of our school are some of the most supportive I have encountered in my time in the classroom and that has added greatly to our classroom culture of "family/home." Every person who walks through our door is part of our family, and we enjoy learning together with volunteers and visitors every chance we get!
My Project
Kids are active and on the move. They need to be able to wiggle while they work. Having a seat that allows movement helps them be able to address their kinesthetic needs while they are also working on their academics.
Last year I purchased a small set of wiggle stools for my classroom.
The children absolutely love them and beg over a turn to use them. I have seen a lot of improvement in overall behavior and in focus for many of my children as a result of being able to have a chair that allows them to literally wiggle while they work.
I would like to have enough wiggle stools so that each child can have one at their desks.
