Ruth Beechick, said, "A teacher who loves learning earns the right and the ability to help others learn." I love this quote. Like my students, I love learning! I also feel that through the never ending cycle of learning, we all benefit! I'd love to learn and help others with a new Windows 8 laptop.
At this time, I am teaching 1st grade after spending many years as a 4th grade team teacher.
Like my students, I am learning as I go. As you may imagine, my 6 and 7 year old students are a constant bundle of energy who love using technology tools. Our Pre K through fifth grade school community of 500 students is one that offers a lot to our children in terms of parental involvement. Our school is one in the district who strives for technology resources in our classroom. However, we don't have any Windows 8 computers. I have a personal goal to learn how to work with a Windows 8 laptop. I would love to have one to use with my eager students eventually. I know to do this, I need to back step a bit and be the student once again. I am more than willing to do that because, in the long run, I know that not only I will benefit from this, but my students will too.
My Project
Our school doesn't have Windows 8 computers, so I met with our tech specialist to see if I gained one if she could help me. She thought it was a great idea! Together, we set up a plan of action for Professional Development. It would include meeting 1 to 1 to help me to learn more about Windows 8 computers. The lesson plan for my educational journey would mean meeting for 3 meetings to help me understand Windows 8 better & how to implement it later on. In addition to that, my mentor gathered professional development articles & tutorials to aid my journey with effective academic uses of a windows 8. Windows 8 is a different format, so I know I have a lot to learn. Through the use of the requested laptop, I will be guided on my learning path. Our plan includes striving for 2 goals. Goal 1 includes Windows 8 hands-on lessons for me to learn more while the next goal lies with me guiding students later on. Before I get to goal 2, though, I have to become a student & learn about Windows 8.
Together you and I have an opportunity that would enable me as a teacher, to learn more about the powerful use of Windows 8 computers in academic settings.
Ruth Beechick, said, ""A teacher who loves learning earns the right and the ability to help others learn."" It is time, for me to step back and become involved as a student again. With the help of my tech leader guiding me & your funding, I will strive to become a better educator. Could you help me with this journey as a student and teacher?
