My Students

Do you remember listening to books on tape/cd when you were in Kindergarten and jumping into a fantasy world? My students are in need of books on CD so they can build reading and fluency skills.

The school I teach at is a Title 1 school meaning many of our students are on free or reduced price lunch.

In my class of 18 kindergarteners, two thirds of them fall into this category. Most of my students come from low income families, and I want to give them the richest reading experience possible in the classroom.

My Project

Reading is the KEY element to becoming a successful student! Having books on CD will give my students the opportunity to listen to the book, then practice reading the text with the tape to build fluency, and eventually becoming independent readers which will help them succeed in all areas of school.

Looking at the broad spectrum, this project will help build readers who will be the future leaders of tomorrow!
