My Students

My students are enthusiastic and hard working. They have the best attitudes and work very well together. They have created 3-D structures together with geometric blocks and love being active. It’s rare to see a group that favors playing and building together over computers. They are supportive of each other and excited about learning. Keeping their attention is sometimes difficult, but their energy and efforts are appreciated. I have a great group of kids that will greatly benefit from this project.

My Project

This rug will act as our meeting space where we will talk and learn as a whole group. All students will be closer to our board. Currently, they sit at tables where it’s difficult to see/hear depending on where they are seated. It would be wonderful to have a space for coming together and a separate space (tables) to work together and complete work. The rug could also be used for silent reading times. Comfortable spaces encourage my struggling and hesistant readers. I am hoping to transition into flexible seating, and this rug is the first step. By removing the tables as a place to sit and have whole group instruction, I can make this happen.
