My classroom consists of 24 students, ages 3 to 5 years old. My students exhibit curious minds and the desire to learn. It is important to provide materials to allow the students diverse opportunities to role play, explore, and interact in a variety of classroom domains.
My students are enrolled in an International Baccalaureate school, which aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people.
The children are in school 6 hours each day. It is important for them to feel a sense of ownership in everything the do. The classroom is designed with the students in mind. Our staff want the children to feel safe, loved, and important.
My Project
Our Unit of Inqiury focuses on community workers and what they do, how they do it, and how the help our community. The children love to dress up and play act. Play acting builds social emotional and communication skills necessary for the development of a young child.
How exciting to pretend to be a police officer, cosmetologist, veterinarian, chef, zookeeper and more.
The children’s excitement and enthusiasm for this unit overwhelms me. We are super excited to post photos on our class dojo, so our families and donors can see the children immersed in learning. Let’s go community worker learners!
