My Project

Each year, our 5th graders select a notable person from history to research. They read a biography from the "Who Was?" series and then write an informational report to share what they learned.

I think that it is important to offer a wide variety of biographies for students to choose from so that they can pick a person that they are excited to research.

I want to make sure there are biographies that include people from different backgrounds, careers, and with different life experiences. Students have expresses an interest in many of the newly released "Who Was?" books, so I would like to add them to my classroom library.

The "Who Was" series does a great job of presenting biographical information in a way that is both engaging and understandable to my 5th grade students.
