Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students learn best when all the sensory aspects of their environment are considered. The harsh, florescent lighting in my classroom gives some students headaches and causes most to ask me repeatedly if we can just turn them off, which leaves the room too dark to work.

I would love to install covers on the lights to soften the glare and -BONUS- they teach seasons at the same time.

I would also like to hang group signs that are actually world globes and place a welcome mat that communicates to my bilingual students that their home cultures are honored. Isn't it wonderful when functional and decorative items can actually add instructional value aligned with our first grade standards!?
